KOCHI: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has decided to take up various issues faced by the student community in North Eastern states.The four-day national executive meet of the the BJP’s students wing, which concluded here on Sunday, also decided to organise the birth centenary celebrations of Swami Vivekananda in 1,500 colleges located across the country.The executive meeting concluded with an address by ABVP national president Milind Marathe.More than 1,000 volunteers will be deployed to take care of the birth centenary celebrations, said ABVP national secretary Surendra Naik.The executive council pointed out that students in North Eastern states face various difficulties related to their education and employment. “Due to the wrong policies and lack of developmental initiatives by the government, as many as 1.5 lakh students in North Eastern states are in a dilemma. In the 10th Five-Year Plan, an amount of `640 crore has been earmarked for North Eastern states. Still there are only a couple of professional educational institutions and universities in these states. Migration of Bangladeshis is still a major issue. The ABVP discussed all these issues in detail and decided to launch agitations,” said Naik. The meet also discussed about the seven bills pending before the Parliament.ABVP national secretary Vinay Bidre, Assam state secretary Krishna Kanth Bora and state secretary M Aneesh Kumar also attended the briefing.
