Army on Monday expressed serious concern over presence of terrorists at the high altitude belt of Sabjian along LoC in Poonch district following interception of BSF porters by ultras. Replying to a question on alleged assault of the BSF porters by Pakistan Army Border Action Team (BAT) on May 14, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Lt General KT Parnaik, said, "The description given by the porters about the men suggested that they were terrorists and not the Pak regulars."

He said it is a matter of concern that "how these people managed to infiltrate into our borders at a high altitude of around 9000 to 10,000 feet. Some BSF troops are placed in this area and these porters carry the supplies to them. Some people had intercepted them believing that they were BSF jawans, but they told them they were porters and their duty was to carry the supplies. On listening to them the men warned them not to visit the area again."

Parnaik said they did not kidnap or assault the porters but only threatened them. He said there is a need for advance surveillance systems in the areas which are difficult to patrol.
