Attend duties or face action: APSRTC

HYDERABAD: The APSRTC management is getting ready to take action against contract employees who have been participating in Sakala Janula Samme since September 19. Notices have already been issued to the RTC contract employees asking them to attend duties or face action. According to RTC officials, 6,000 drivers and an equal number of conductors are working on contract basis in Telangana districts.RTC managing director B Prasada Rao said their intention was not to remove the contract employees but to compel them to attend duties keeping in view the severe hardship being faced by people due to nonoperation of bus services.At present, the RTC is operating 370 buses in Hyderabad city as against 3,600 services in normal times. About 10,000 RTC buses have remained off the road in Telangana districts due to Sakala Janula Samme.
