BANGALORE: Monsoon showers affected the civic life, with eight trees uprooting incidents across the city were reported on Tuesday evening. Interestingly, this time the Palike staff attended the complaints on time and avoided traffic miseries. However, water-logging in Okalipuram, Shivananda Circle, Mysore Road, Residency Road, Richmond Road, and Rajajinagar resulted in snail pace traffic in these areas. BBMP sources said Bangalore South was worst affected and four old trees in separate incidents uprooted on house and parked vehicles. The Meteorological department said the city recorded a maximum of 35 mm rain on Tuesday. Deputy Mayor L Srinivas and BBMP Joint Commissioner Hemchandra visited the worst affected areas. Following complaints by residents of Yediyur that earthing was taking places at many houses, there was intermittent power supply in the evening. BBMP Mayor D Venkatesh Murthy who was at the BBMP control room addressing complaints said, “We have deputed special officers at all the control rooms. We have 20 vehicles, out of which three belong to Forest department, while the rest are ‘praharis’ (emergency vehicles).” Trees were uprooted near Lavanya Theatre, Yediyur Lake, Mavalli Circle, Savithri Apartment at Padmanabhanagar, Gavipuram Guttahalli, Lalbagh Circle and Richmond Circle.
