BANGALORE: Continuing their ‘tools down’ strike for the third week, employees of Bosch of the erstwhile MICO Employees Association (MEA) alleged here on Tuesday that the management at BOSCH has closed down the plant at Adugodi for MEA workers.Members of the association have alleged that the management has put up a notice at the gates, which specifies that the plant has actually been shut down only for them.At a press conference, members from MEA gave reporters a copy of the notice which reads “Taking note of the contents of the MEA letter dated 28.09.11 that workmen will continue their ‘Tool Down strike’ till their issues are resolved, it is hereby decided to shut down the Plant operations only for workmen of BanP,till further notice.” “They hire workers from Nashik and Jaipur to continue work at the plant. But we (MEA) cannot enter the plant,” said Adyanthaya MN, President, MEA.He further added that it is the management that is continuing the strike and not the workers. The MEA claimed that the management has violated the Memorandum of Settlement under section 12 (3).“According to the settlement between the management and the association, the provision for ancillarisation and outsourcing was not discussed or approved,” said JN Muniraja, General Secretary, MICO Employees Association. He added that the settlement is valid until December 31, 2012. The ‘tools down’ strike has continued since September 28.BOSCH’s management which had earlier called the strike by MEA ‘illegal’ had said in a statement that ancillarisation and outsourcing of non-core manufacturing processes was part of the plan to modernise and keep up with the competition globally. The company refused to comment on the matter.
