HYDERABAD: A marriage ceremony ended on a sour note after the bride lost her gold jewellery worth Rs 43 lakh from a function hall in Marredpally. The theft took place in Marvel function hall where the marriage of a Nellore-based businessman's daughter was held on Sunday afternoon.The girl returned from the US after completing her studies and her marriage was fixed with an US-based software engineer. The bridegroom is from Karimnagar district.By 1.30 p.m, the marriage was over and the bride removed her jewellery to take some rest. She handed over the jewellery to her relative, who packed them in a plastic bag. "After sometime, the relative placed the bag next to her on a sofa. As some close relatives came into the room, she got up to wish them and walked to them. After a brief chit-chat, she came back to the sofa and found the bag missing,'' Bowenpally police said.The marriage party searched the function hall and inquired about the bag with relatives and later the bride's uncle Subbirami Reddy lodged a complaint with Bowenpally police.In the complaint, he stated value of the ornaments as Rs 43 lakh. The stolen ornaments include a diamond necklace, a gold waist band and ear rings.
