THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet on Monday approved the Prevention of Violence and Danger of Property (Hospital) Bill-2011 that aims at curbing the growing number of violent incidents against medical staff and damage to hospital properties in the state. Briefing mediapersons about the Cabinet decisions, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that the Bill would be tabled in the current session of the Assembly. He said that the Bill aims to make accountable those involved in violence and damaging property as illegal. The Chief Minister also announced a financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of three youths, drowned while taking bath in Bharathapuzha on Saturday and for the families of three children who drowned in the Ithikara river in Kollam. The family of elderly couple who lost their life after the 108 ambulance in which they were seated caught fire will also be given Rs 2 lakh as financial relief. Chandy said that he was yet get any intimation from the Kerala Water Authority regarding the tariff hike and expressed hope that the power scenario in the state would become normal soon. The Cabinet also decided to give a pension of Rs 1000 per month for those who participated in the Second World War and Rs 500 for the war widows.
