The Lokayukta police on Tuesday submitted a charge-sheet to the Special Lokayukta Court against 12 persons, including IAS officers Subir Hari Singh and Bharat Lal Meena, in a case related to violation of rules and illegal conversion of a piece of land in Arakere near Bannerghatta.
The others, whose name find a mention in the charge-sheet include Ramegowda and Veerabhadraiah.
The police conducted an investigation after the court referred them a private complaint filed by former councillor of Hulimavu C Lakshminarayana.
According to the Lokayukta police, six others will be charge-sheeted after obtaining sanction from the competent authorities. Investigating officer Lokayukta Superintendent of Police P Shivashankar submitted more than 6,000 pages of documents with the report itself running into more than 300 pages. Singh and Meena are accused of not taking any action against the land owners and builders when it was brought to their notice that they had fabricated documents about land use and agreements. Instead, they wrote to the government to release the landowners from the conditions imposed during denotification.
The complainant had alleged that the accused had illegally converted 7 acres and 12 guntas of land in Arakere near Bannerghatta for residential purpose, which was conditionally denotified by the BDA stating that land was not to be used for any other purpose, except for running a nursery.
Charges have been filed against J Bhupesh Reddy and J Vijay Reddy of SJR Builders, the then Assistant Commissioner Krishnan, Tahsildar Narayana, Revenue Inspector Kodigowda, Town Planning Member Tirakana Gowda and Superintendent of land acquisition office Sriramaiah.
In addition, SJR Builders have also been held responsible for selling 39 plots illegally after the Lokayukta started the investigation and the BDA kept the sanction plan for the apartment complex ‘Luxuria’ in abeyance.
