BANGALORE: An LIC clerk killed his wife and 12-yearold daughter and hanged himself. The incident was reported on Water Tank Road in Soudhamini Nagar near Konanakunte Cross in Subramanyapura police station limits on Sunday.H R Srinivas, 46, allegedly strangulated his wife Gayatri, 40, and daughter Poornima and committed suicide. Poornima was a fifth standard student at Silicon City school. A suicide note from Srinivas stated that he took the extreme step as he was upset for not helping his brother, who had committed suicide over three years ago due to financial crisis.According to the police, the family lived in that area from many years and Srinivas’s father Ramanjanappa resided close by. On Sunday morning, Srinivas’s niece Bhavya went to her uncle, Srinivas’s house, and found the newspaper lying in front of the main door. She soon informed her parents, who reached the house immediately. When there was no response to their knock, they peeped through the window, and found the family of three lying dead. “It is suspected that Srinivas first killed his wife and then his daughter. He has strangled them on Saturday night when they were asleep. He then wrote a suicide note before hanging himself. The note states that he was depressed after his brother’s death and he felt guilty for not helping in clearing his brother’s debts,” the police said. Srinivas’s brother-inlaw Sampangi said that the couple shared a cordial relationship.“However, he was very depressed after Mohan, his brother, committed suicide.Mohan was into financing business and had incurred huge loss.Unable to clear debts, he had committed suicide. Srinivas was guilty that he could not help his brother in time of crisis. This might have led to take the extreme step,” Sampangi, further said. The police shifted the bodies to KIMS Hospital mortuary where post mortem was conducted. Subramanyapura police have registered murder and unnatural death cases and are investigating.
