CHENNAI: Sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) conducted raids in six places in the city on Friday, including at the premises of three security officers of former CM and DMK president M Karunanidhi, on allegations that they had made illegal profits and caused losses to the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) over land allotment under discretionary quota.Police sources said DVAC teams conducted searches at the residences of DSP Pandian at SI quarters, Mylapore, and inspectors Vinodhan at KK Nagar, and Ganesan at Nesapakkam and KK Nagar. They also raided the premises of two others, who had allegedly bought the plots, at Neelankarai and RA Puram. Sources said the house of Pandian was locked when the DVAC team landed there and that they returned without conducting a search. However, DVAC officials refused to confirm if the raid was conducted.According to DVAC officials, the three officers had applied for allotment of housing board plots in Mogappair in 2008. They had allegedly misused their official positions to get two grounds of vacant plots. But even before receiving the official order for the allotment, they had allegedly put it to personal use by colluding with a person and receiving cash of `19 lakh each.
