E-commerce giants on this independence day are going all out to appeal to customers with their freedom sales

New Delhi: E-commerce giants on this independence day are going all out to appeal to customers with their freedom sales. While e-retailers hope to gain customer loyalty, experts raise concerns over the sustainability of the discount based model.

For this independence day the prominent images to be used by the retailers have not been ones that evoke patriotism. Instead they have been about sales and big online discounts are everywhere from bill boards, on front pages of newspapers to social media and many other places. E-commerce players are leaving no stones unturned to capitalise on the holiday weekend.

While the response has been tremendous, hard core online shoppers like Apoorv say " the discounts are nothing exceptional"

"The discount based model is not very different. Discounts are not the only perk" said another online shopper.

In market places, independence day or not, deals are struck every day and one needs to be exceptionally good bargaining skills to be successfully as opposed to buying thing simply by the click of a button.

"There is a venture capitalist flow that sustains discounts and online shopping bubble will burst soon", said CEO of Dazeinfo

Whether the discont model works in the long run or not, online stores are sailing on their success for now, to build brand loyalty .
