Elderly couple assaulted and robbed

BANGALORE: An elderly couple was assaulted and robbed of cash and other valuables by an unidentified miscreant near the Puttenahalli circle in the J P Nagar police limits.The incident took place on early Sunday morning. The victim, Yeddiyurappa, a resident of Jayanagar 3rd Block, 10th Main road, was going to drop his wife to a bus stop at around 5 AM.The unidentified miscreant waylaid the couple by picking up an argument and abused the elderly couple.Later, they attacked the couple with a wooden piece and robbed them of Rs 50,000 in cash and a gold chain worth Rs1 lakh, before fleeing the scene.The injured couple was treated as outpatients in a private hospital, said the police.JP Nagar police have registered a case are further investigating in this regard.
