KHAMMAM: The technical education department is contemplating action against some private engineering colleges who were responsible for altering the web options of students during the first phase of Eamcet web counselling in the district.
It is learnt that some engineering colleges colluded with web counselling centres and changed the options given by the students in respect of the colleges. They changed the options in favour of their colleges. The issue came out in the open when the students along their parents lodged a complaint with the police.Following the complaint police registered cases and arrested five persons of web counselling centres recently. Later during their enquiry police found that some private engineering colleges colluded with the web counselling centres in tampering with the students' choice.

It is learnt that this has been going on since 2009 in the district. Taking a serious view of the issue, the AllIndia Council for Technical Education has sought a report from the technical education department.
