BHUBANESWAR: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has held a woman, a former employee of the Railways, for defrauding hundreds of job aspirants and minting crores of rupees. The woman, originally, a resident of Visakhapatnam, has been rounded up from Ranchi where she had settled and was operating with help of some others. She, along with a doctor, had created a fake website where jobs in railways were advertised. Candidates also appeared in fake medical tests, paid huge sums and handed out appointment letters only to realise later that they had been duped. The doctor, sources said, helped the woman in conducting the medical tests. The woman had landed a job in the Railways after the death of her husband but used her son’s placement agency to lure in the aspirants. If preliminary investigation is anything to go by, the team had duped hundreds of aspirants in Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand. A large team of the CBI raided several places in Jharkhand and came across the evidence against the racket. During the raid in Ranchi, bio-data of 50 candidates were seized. Details of the case will be available once CBI starts quizzing her and others.
