Male friend wanted 20-year-old airline employee to quit habit.
Mumbai: A 20-year-old airhostess allegedly killed herself by jumping from an apartment building after a fight with her male friend, who wanted her to quit smoking.
Anupama Acharya, who worked for Jet Airways, allegedly fought with her friend, a pilot with Jet, and jumped off the fifth floor of Dil Darshan Apartments in suburban Powai, police said.
An official of the Powai police station said the pilot had been detained for questioning. The police claim Acharya become “very agitated” during the argument and jumped into the stairwell of the building.
Acharya, who had been working with Jet Airways for about a year, was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
