At a time when road and fire accidents are on the rise, ‘World First Aid Day’ was observed by the SSI Development Society here on Saturday.
SSI Development Society, a NGO started in 2004, works in the various fields such as health, sanitation, women’s welfare, road safety and first aid training to create awareness among the general public.
In lieu of ‘World First Aid Day, ’ a first aid training programme was conducted along with St John Ambulance, Ambattur Local Centre at its campus in Mannurpet. SSI conducted ‘live emergency first aid and a CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) demo on road accidents with a 108 ambulance on MTH Road.
Dr R A Mohammed Kamal, President, SSI Development Society said, “If an accident occurs you should not panic. You must call to 100, 101 and 108 and if possible provide some first aid measures.” He added, “It must be remembered that, first aid is just a measure to minimise pain and prevent bleeding and not a treatment itself.”
