THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ad hoc committee of Kerala Congress (B), formed by the supporters of Minister for Forests K B Ganesh Kumar, presented its views and demands, amid the ongoing rift within the party, to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and UDF convenor P P Thankachan on Wednesday. The team members claimed that Chandy and Thankachan had given them an assurance that outstanding issues would be sorted out after the Neyyattinkara bypoll. The ad hoc committee members also met Pillai’s ‘conscience keeper’ and party state general secretary C Venugopalan Nair asking him to take the initiative to unite the party and stop the campaign to ‘corner the party minister’.The letter also asked to clarify the ground on which the party chairman had asked the party workers to boycott Ganeshkumar.“The chairman never explained Ganeshkumar’s faults. The Minister had neither resigned on his own nor split the party. On what ground he should be removed from the post?” the letter asked.“Democratically elected office-bearers of the party were removed by the chairman without prior notice. They should be reinstated,” the letter said. The eight-member team of the committee was led by Brijesh Abraham, who was expelled from the party Kollam district president’s post last week and another office-bearer Shibu Abraham.Though the team also planned to meet Balakrishna Pillai and hand over a copy of the letter, he was out of station. “We would meet the KPCC president also and give a letter to him on Thursday,” they said.
