BHUBANESWAR: As the Government is all set to launch Mamata for better care of the pregnant women and the newborn babies from September, Chief Secretary BK Patnaik on Wednesday emphasised on inter-departmental coordination for successful implementation of the welfare scheme.Presiding over a high-level meeting here, the Chief Secretary asked the Women and Child Development Department to put an effective service delivery mechanism in place from State to village level in close coordination with Health and Family Welfare, Panchayati Raj, STs and SCs Development, Information Technology and Information and Public Relations departments.Registration of pregnant women is scheduled to start from September. It has been proposed that the scheme will be launched in areas of 318 ICDS projects of the State.According to a preliminary estimate, about 7.48 lakh pregnant women will be covered under the scheme in a year. The programme aims at reducing maternal and infant mortality by way of improving health and nutritional status of pregnant women and lactating mothers. Each pregnant woman above 19 years of age will be covered under the scheme for the first two live births.  The beneficiaries will be provided  ` 5,000 each in four instalments for additional nutrition and health care. The money will be transferred to the bank account of the beneficiary through e-transfer.Women and Child Development Department will issue detailed guidelines and required forms for circulation among anganwadi centres and pregnant women.Service Delivery Mechanism will be set up at State, district, ICDS project area and village levels. A separate project monitoring unit will be set up at the district level also.  The anganwadi worker will submit a list of eligible women every month to the CDPOs.
