Bibipur: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated Haryana's Bibipur village sarpanch's effort to save the girl child, all homes in the village are getting nameplates bearing the name of the daughter of the house.
The initiative is a part of Modi's 'Digital India with Laado' campaign.
Panchayat representatives will visit every household in the village putting up nameplates with names and e-mail IDs of the daughters. The Bibipur panchayat marked the beginning of the campaign by replacing nameplates at 30 houses.
The sarpanch said, "Today in Bibipur village two programs were conducted. In the first one we selected 30 houses where some members were digitally educated and some were not. These were usually male dominated houses. So the second thing we did was we made templates with the names of daughters to be placed outside houses. This initiative is going to be a historic one for the 'beti bachao' movement."
Hailing the panchayat's move, a resident said, "I am very happy that nameplates are being made after my daughter. This will increase the respect of girls."
Another resident said, "I didn't know much about computer before. But however much I placed it infront of the audience. I am happy about these initiative, such facilities were not there before in our village."
The expenses for replacing the nameplates would be borne by the village panchayat, the sarpanch said.
