The Jharkhand High Court directed the state government to stop withdrawal of salary by the Home Secretary till the department clears post-retirement dues of a constable as per the court's earlier judgement and fixed January 24 to hear about compliance with its order.

Justice DN Patel's directive came after petitioner Ashok Kumar Thakur, who retired as a police constable, filed a contempt case following the department not adhering to the court's order to disburse his retirement dues.

The court had asked the government to comply with its order and fixed Friday as the second date after filing of the contempt case, but the department failed to comply with the order.
