HC notice on Rajasthan police selling bodies
The CNN-IBN had exposed in March, how policemen illegally sold Rajkumar Soni's body to a medical college.

New Delhi: More than a month after CNN-IBN exposed a racket of Rajasthan policemen allegedly selling unidentified bodies to medical colleges in Ganganagar, the Rajasthan High Court has now issued notices to the state's Chief Secretary, DGP, Home Secretary, SP of Ganga Nagar and the Director of Tatya Medical College.

In March, CNN-IBN showed how an RTI query filed by Rajkumar Soni revealed that the policemen in Rajasthan had sold off his 19-year-old son's body to the medical college.

The expose led to the state Home Minister ordering an inquiry into the matter. On April 30, Rajasthan police admitted to glaring lapses.

Soni alleges that his son was found injured in a park in Ganganagar on May 25, 2009 and died in a hospital the next day.

The same day the police gave away the body to a local private medical college for research without notifying in any newspapers or making any other efforts to identify the body as per law.
