New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani will on Sunday jointly inaugurate the ministerial deliberations at the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process conference, which will see participation of over eight foreign ministers and other dignitaries of 14 participating countries, a Ministry of External Affairs official said.
Modi and Ghani will hold bilateral talks before the joint inauguration.
In a last minute change in schedule, Pakistan’s Sartaj Aziz arrived in Amritsar on Saturday evening. An official in Islamabad earlier attributed the change in his travel schedule to “uncertain weather forecast for Sunday".
The Pakistan top diplomat was originally scheduled to arrive in Amritsar on Sunday for the conference and was supposed to return home the same day.
Officials said any formal dialogue on the sidelines of the conference between India and Pakistan was unlikely.
