In Crackdown on Terror, NIA Attaches Six Properties of JeM Operative in Kashmir
A total of six immovable properties at Mirpora, Pulwama belonging to the accused Asif Ahmed Malik, son of Bashir Ahmed Malik, a resident of village Qazigund, in Pulwama, have been attached.

Going full throttle against Kashmir terror groups, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday attached six properties of a key terror accused, a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) operative in J&K, under a UAPA case relating to transporting freshly infiltrated terrorists to Kashmir and recovery of arms, ammunitions, and explosives from their possession. A total of six immovable properties in which land measuring 01 Kanal & 09 Marlas at Mirpora, Pulwama belonging to the accused Asif Ahmed Malik, son of Bashir Ahmed Malik, a resident of village Qazigund, Kakapora in Pulwama, have been attached under Section 33 (1) of UAPA, 1967, in pursuance of the recent orders of NIA Special Court, Jammu.

The case (RC-02/2020/NIA/JMU) is related to transporting freshly infiltrated terrorists to the Kashmir valley, killing of three terrorists and recovery of arms, ammunitions, and explosives from the possession of terror associates. All the six accused in the said case are the members of the proscribed terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed. Investigation in the case revealed conspiracy by the accused in transporting the freshly infiltrated terrorists to the Kashmir valley and safely placing them to carry out attacks on the security forces/apparatus against the Government of India.

Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) means “The Army of Muhammad”, a Pakistan based terrorist group formed by Maulana Masood Azhar in the year 2000 with its headquarters at Bahawalpur, Pakistan. Since its foundation, JeM has carried out several terrorist attacks in India including those in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. The group (JeM) has been enlisted as a “Designated Foreign Terrorist Organisation” by the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSC) 1267 and the group’s leader Maulana Masood Azhar was designated as “Global Terrorist” in 2019 by the UNSC.

The accused in this case, namely Asif Ahmed Malik was arrested on January 31, 2020 and arms, ammunitions & explosives were recovered from his possession. He was chargesheeted on July 27, 2020 and is currently facing trial under Sections 120-B read with 121, 121-A, 122 and 307 of IPC; Sec. 7, 25 and 27 of Arms Act 1959, Sec. 3, 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act; Sections 16, 18, 19, 20, 38 & 39 of UA (P) Act 1967 and Section 6(1) of the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1933 before the NIA Special Court, Jammu.
