New Delhi: The Director General-level talks between border forces of India and Pakistan have ended in Delhi in a 'cordial atmosphere'. According to sources, Pakistan has said that Indian security forces must cease propaganda activities and stop leaking information to the press.
Pakistan is also said to have claimed that it has evidence that India has supported infiltration into Pakistan via Punjab and Rajasthan and the sea route.
Ceasefire violation and cross-border infiltration were to top the talks between Border Security Force (BSF) and the Pakistani Rangers. The meeting was held amidst escalating tensions and continuing cases of ceasefire violations along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan Rangers Director General (Punjab), Maj. Gen. Umar Farooq Burki, who is leading his country's delegation, was accorded a guard of honour at the BSF headquarters and later welcomed by BSF DG DK Pathak and other senior officers prior to the formal commencement of the deliberations.
This is the first high-level interaction between the two countries after the National Security Adviser (NSA)-level talks scheduled in Delhi on August 23-24 were cancelled due to differences over the agenda.
The Pakistani delegation, which had reached Delhi on Wednesday, includes officials of Sindh Rangers, the country's interior ministry, Survey of Pakistan, anti-narcotics force and immigration department, among others.
