The building has been constructed by the Kerala Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) at a cost of `2.11 crore. Benny Behanan MLA, district panchayat president Eldose Kunnappally and District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth will attend the function. Thrikkakkara municipal chairman P I Mohammadali will preside over the function. The efforts for building a complex for the Industrial Centre had begun in the 1990s. The Revenue Department had allotted 43 cents of land for the purpose. Former Industries Minister K R Gowri had laid the foundation stone for the project at Kunnumpuram-Civil Station Road, Kakkanad. However the construction work was delayed for years owing to legal hassles. The Industrial Centre had been operating at a rented building at Jose Junction and later at the SIDCO building in Gandhinagar.
