With Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) petitioning Assembly Speaker Shashank Shekhar Bhokta for disqualification of five of its MLAs, two of them on Monday claimed "JVM is ours" even as JVM ridiculed their claim.

"Jharkhand Vikash Morcha (Prajatantrik) is ours. We have set up a Committee, 'elected' K P Sharma as our president and Sanjay Choubey as party's Principal General Secretary," Samresh Singh and Nirbhay Sahabadi, two of the five MLAs facing notices under Disqualification Act, claimed before the media here on Monday.

While Singh has been "elected as the Legislative Party leader", Sahabadi has been "elected as the chief whip in the Assembly", they claimed further.

Besides Singh and Sahabadi, the Speaker has served notices to Jai Prakash Singh Bhokta, Chandrika Mahata and Phool Chand Mandal, seeking their replies based on the JVM's demand for their disqualification after they announced to join the BJP despite winning the 2009 elections as its candidates.

"Their claim is ridiculous as they have already left and joined the BJP," said Pradip Yadav, who was recognised by the Speaker as the JVM's legislative party leader soon after the House was constituted in 2010.

Asked whether the rebel MLAs were making ground to escape disqualification, JVM spokesman Saroj Kumar said, "It's not that. Because not even one block president of the party is with them. Their drama is all about not willing to give up membership even for one month ahead of the impending elections. Their disqualification is imminent, so they should resign, adhering to ethics," he said.
