THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The City Police have sought the assistance of the cyber wing of the Department to track down the suspects of the assault on the engineering student residing at Nemom the other day. A second-year Automobile Engineering student, Arjun, 19, of Sree Chithira Thirunal College of Engineering, Pappanamcode, was assaulted by a group of six persons in front of his rented house at Deepa Nagar in Nemom. The assailants had worn masks to hide their identities.  The police have also visited the college and recorded the statements of the students, including Arjun’s friends, in connection with the incident. Arjun, who suffered serious injuries on his arm and shoulder, had given statement before the police that it was the rivalry that existed between the members of Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and Kerala Students’ Union (KSU) in the college that fuelled the attack. Arjun was a member of SFI.  Nemom Circle Inspector Abhilash said that the police had listed the suspects, whose mobile phone signals were being traced to find out their locations during the time of the attack. He also said that they have received valid clues that might lead to the arrest of culprits soon.
