ERODE: The Judicial Magistrate Court III on Wednesday admitted a cheating case against officials of a nationalised bank and ordered notices to them.In a plea, Thomas Selvan of Mettur said P Rajalingam of Umareddiyur, Bhavani pledged his 4.58-acre land with the bank’s Suriyampalayam branch to get Rs10.90 lakh as crop and tractor purchase loan some years ago.  But, Selvan had entered into an agreement with Rajalingam to buy the land for Rs 9.5 lakh and settle dues, with an interest of Rs13.63 lakh. The bank managers who sanctioned it had assured him that he would get the papers within a week of debt settlement. Selvan then got the land registered in his name on March 11 last year and settled the dues on four days later.  But, when he approached the bank for the documents, the managers said it could be given as it was the fag end of the fiscal year. When he approached them later, they kept giving him excuses.Soon, both managers were transferred to other branches and the new incumbent informed that the cash remitted to adjust the loan was not credited in Rajalingam’s account. Selvan later came to know that the duo and Rajalingam had embezzled the cash. He suspected that the sum was credited in the savings account of Rajalingam and then shared by the trio.  As there was no response to a lawyer’s notice sent to the branch on January 27, Selvan filed a case. His lawyer, T Balamurali, said the managers were booked for negligence in duty.  The magistrate issued notice to the trio and the present manager.
