Amritsar: Relatives of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Monday organised prayers in this Sikh holy city to seek divine intervention to save his four-year-old United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the centre, now facing a trust vote in Parliament.

Relatives of the Prime Minister, including his step-brother Surjit Singh Kohli, sisters and others participated in the prayers at Kohli's residence in the upscale Ranjit Avenue residential area of the city.

A Congress leader based here also burnt 500 kg of red chillies to 'ward off evil on the UPA Government headed by Manmohan Singh.

Prayers have also been organised by supporters of the UPA Government and the Prime Minister at various places in Chandigarh and Punjab in the last few days.
