THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The investigation team probing into the Valakam attack has started verifying the list of registered owners of Alto cars in Kollam and nearby districts to trace the car that was seen speeding away on the night when the teacher Krishnakumar was found lying in a pool of blood. The team is also verifying all the phone calls made from the area on the night of September 27, the day of the attack.A police official from the investigation team told ‘Express’ that they got a clue regarding a white Alto car and the team was verifying the whereabouts of the owner of the car.“We have got some clues and are investigating it. We are also verifying all mobile calls made from the nearby locations on the night when the teacher was found injured on the roadside. We have already verified thousands of calls made under three nearby towers in the area,’’ said an investigating officer. The person, who reportedly chased the car which according to the police hit Krishnakumar, had contacted the police on Sunday and given the statement that though he was not a witness to the incident he did chase a white Alto car. The police team is probing whether the incident was just a road accident or whether somebody had hit Krishnakumar deliberately. The statements of more than 500 persons were recorded in connection with the incident. The probe had taken a new angle after the medical report submitted by a six-member team of doctors of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, had stated that the injuries were not inflicted by any sharp weapon. The medical report had suggested that such injuries could be caused due to hit by a speeding vehicle or fall from a great height.
