BANGALORE: Cracking the whip against Minister for Animal Husbandry Revunaik Belamagi, the Election Commission of India instructed the Koppal district administration to seize his official vehicle which was allegedly used in violation of the election code of conduct in the run-up to the byelection to the Koppal assembly seat. According to official sources, the minister had taken the official car to Koppal town on September 9, the last day for filing nominations to Koppal byelection.Koppal Deputy Commissioner M Tulasi, who is also the district electoral officer, in person found the vehicle parked inside the constituency and directed the driver of the car to surrender it to the district administration.However, the driver not only refused to comply with the DC’s order but also brought it to Bangalore without caring for the instructions of the district magistrate.Taking serious note of the incident, the ECI issued instructions to the district administration to seize the vehicle. Armed with the order, RTO officer Shivaraj Patil of Koppal who had tracked down the vehicle, seized and handed it over to the DPAR authorities.A case also has been registered against the driver of the vehicle.
