BERHAMPUR: Posters against Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda were found pasted at several places at Baliguda on Sunday morning. They have reportedly been issued by Kandhamal-based Adivasi Vikash Parishad.Signed by Madhusudan Majhi, convenor of the Parishad, the posters were found near Baliguda Sub-Collector’s office, ITDA, banks, ATM counters and police stations. The posters read that Sabyasachi had been shedding crocodile tears in the name of tribal development, but has done nothing for them. “After release of his wife Mili, Sabyasachi has been keeping silent over his previous demands for release of poor tribals lodged in various jails. His group has often used tribals as a shield,” the posters read. Majhi also urged tribals not to allow the Maoists to enter their villages. Police have seized the posters.Jail Warder InjuredA warder of Kodola sub-jail sustained serious injuries following an attack by a UTP on Saturday. Police said UTP Krushnachandra Swain, lodged in the jail in connection with a murder case, had attempted to escape by climbing the roof. However, this came to the notice of warders who tried to foil the bid.One among them Bibhuti Bhusan tried to catch hold of Swain who then threw bricks at the former. Although Bibhuti was injured, he managed to catch hold of him.He was admitted to MKCG Medical and later shifted to Vizag.Three ArrestedThree persons were arrested on Saturday on charges of dowry torture. Purushottam Police said one Padmabati was married to Tuna Behera of Rishipur earlier this year. Soon after marriage, her in-laws started demanding ` 20,000 as dowry to which Padmabati’s parents did not oblige. Following this, she was tortured on several occasions. Harassed, she lodged a case with the police. Accordingly, police arrested Tuna, his father Narahari and mother Bhasi.
