The corporations and the railways has geared up for the smooth conduct of Ganesha idol immersion on Saturday. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation Limited (CPDCL) and the South Central Railway have made necessary arrangements for it.
Water: The HMWS&SB will supply 14 lakh water sachets free of cost to the devotees through 101 camps all over the city. Besides, over 100 water tankers will provide water on the procession routes. Five camps have been established on the Tank Bund while two on the NTR Marg.
Power: The Central Power Distribution Company of A.P. Limited (APCPDCL) has made necessary arrangements at the immersion points for providing uninterrupted power supply. Mobile distribution transformers in and around Tank Bund and on the procession route have been arranged for unhindered transportation of the idols. Power supply is being monitored round-the-clock by the officials from the Camp Offices at NTR Marg and Tank Bund. An electricity control room near the Hussain Sagar was opened on Friday. The CPDCL has appealed to all the Ganesh mandals to follow the safety precautions during the immersion.
Sanitation: The GHMC has deployed men and machinery for removing garbage and litter from the vicinity of the Hussain Sagar and 22 lakes in and around the city.
GHMC officials told Express that along with the lakes, necessary steps have been taken for the removal of garbage and litter along all the procession routes.
As many as 200 workers have been deployed, in three shifts, on the NTR Marg and 54 at the Tank Bund for maintaining cleanliness during and after the idol immersions. Additionally, over 1,000 entomology workers have been deployed on the NTR Marg and 60 sanitation workers and 700 entomology workers on the Tank bund.
Two front end loaders and four ten-tonne vehicles will be pressed into serice for lifting and transporting the litter on the NTR Marg and the Tank Bund. JCBs, along with 100 workers, have been deployed for the removal of dredged material from Hussain Sagar.
Transportation: The SCR will run eight special MMTS trains between various destinations in Hyderabad/ Secunderabad between 10 p.m on September 29 and 4 am on September 30 for the convinence of the devotees during the immersion.
