New Delhi: Defending champion Mario Ancic is through to the second round of the St Petersburg Open defeating Nicolas Lapentti of Ecuador 6-4, 6-1.
The Croatian made light work of his opponent as he wrapped up the match in straight sets.
Ancic had reached the quarter-finals in Stockholm and Madrid in the last two weeks.
In another match second seed Andy Murray of Scotland, too, won in straight sets.
Murray dominated his match against Max Mirnyi from the start and raced through the first set to take it 6-2 and had little trouble in the second, taking that by the same scoreline to claim the match in just 52 minutes.
Another Croatian Marin Cilic also booked his place in the next round beating Russian wild card Michail Elgin 6-3, 6-4 while Italy's Simone Bolelli defeated Swedish veteran Jonas Bjorkman 7-6 (8), 6-2.
