Chennai: Tamil Nadu has decided to impose restrictions on the sale of pesticides in private retail outlets in the state.
This comes after the Kerala government put a curb on vegetables bought from Tamil Nadu after they were found having pesticide levels higher than the permissible limit.
The Tamil Nadu agricultural University in Coimbatore has collected samples from 15 districts for testing and the results are awaited. Officials are also planning to organize workshops on educating farmers on using the prescribed amount of pesticide.
The Tamil Nadu Farmers Association however has denied the allegations.
