Traders vow to derail metro rail

HYDERABAD: The Traders’ Joint Action Committee and Sultan Bazaar Parirakshana Samithi have demanded that the State Government change alignment of the Metro Rail Corridor-II or go underground as was done at Chandni Chowk in New Delhi and many other cities across the world.Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, JAC chairman Govind Rathi said thousands of families were directly and indirectly dependent for their livelihood on the markets at Putli Bowli, Koti, Sultan Bazaar and Badi Chawdi areas and business transactions worth hundreds of crores take place daily. Rathi said they would not tolerate any threat to the places of worship in the name of development. The JAC warned of a stir if their demands were ignored.
