Uddhav Thackeray's birthday was as happy afterall. 42 people have been hospitalised after consuming sweets.
Mumbai: At least 35 school children were admitted to hospital after consuming chocolates, biscuits and other sweets distributed on the occasion of the 46th birthday of Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray.
Local Sena leader and MLC Vilas Avachat said that a Shiv Sena branch had organised a programme of distributing sweets to the children of Union school, Girgaon in South Mumbai on Thursday morning.
He further said after receiving complaints that the students had fallen ill, they were immediately admitted to the nearby Harkisandas hospital.
Police have confirmed the incident and said two persons have been
detained in this connection, while further investigation is on.
