We often hear about multiple news of government schools not being maintained properly. Many rural schools don’t get proper grants and funding for the development and renovation of schools. There are thousands of schools with no proper toilet facilities, blackboards, etc. Several times we have seen teachers and ex-students taking the initiative to renovate the schools. There are many social service organisations too who help these schools. Today we are going to talk about one such school which was recently renovated with the support of multiple social organisations.
The school we are talking about today is located in Ujire, a small town located in the Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district. As per a report by Local 18, Mohan Kumar, the founder of Baduku Kattona Banni Seva Trust, attended a school event at the Government Higher Secondary School. During his visit, he noticed the dire condition of the school. He was shocked after knowing that children attend their classes daily despite the poor condition of the school. Mohan Kumar decided to help the school and approached various social service organisations including the Rotary Internationals. The Belthangady Journalist’s Association also joined in to renovate the school.
Rs 35 lakhs were raised by the team to renovate the schools. In the video shared by Local 18, we can see students of all age groups joining hands to renovate the school. While some construction workers were mending the roof tiles, the students helped the workers. Many students were also seen colouring the walls.
The team of Baduku Kattona Banni Seva Trust renovated the school in association with the Rotary Club of Belthangady. Earlier, the Baduku Kattona Banni Seva Trust took the initiative of two schools which was done successfully. According to reports, the trust aims to renovate 25 underprivileged schools. Earlier, the organisations donated medical equipment worth Rs 1 lakh to the Belthangady Taluk Hospital.
