Islamabad: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, who plans to seek another term in office, said he is not going to quit the post of Army chief, as military uniform is his ‘second skin’.
"At the end of the day I am a soldier and I love to wear uniform. It is part of myself, my being and in fact it’s my second skin," he told in an interview.
Musharraf, who plans to get re-elected by the existing National and Provincial Assemblies before their dissolution next year, said general elections would be credible even without the participation of exiled former premiers Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif.
He ruled out giving permission to the duo to return to the country to take part in next year's general elections.
The Pakistan President also said that the Army could play a part in holding general elections if asked by the Election Commission.
"There is a very independent Election Commission which will ensure free and transparent elections in the country. If EC requires besides other law enforcement agencies, army can also be called out to conduct smooth and fair elections," he said.
