New Delhi: Noted Hindustani classical vocalist Hafeez Ahmed Khan died in the Capital on Wednesday at the age of 77.
Khan, who was suffering from neurological problems, was hospitalised on Sunday after his condition worsened, his family said. He was admitted to the Holy Family Hospital, where he breathed his last.
He belonged to the famous Rampur Sehaswan Gharana and had received the Sangeet Natak Academy and Sahitya Kala Parishad awards.
Son-in-law of well-known musician Ustad Nisar Husain, Khan, served in All India Radio for at least two decades and retired as the deputy chief producer of music.
He is survived by three sons and one daughter.
