NAMAKKAL: A 27-year-old woman and her paramour, who are also closely related, were on Friday arrested for her husband’s murder.The Pallipalayam police registered a case on Thursday after the body of B Nagaraj, husband of Sangeetha, a resident of Ottenmethai in Pallipalayam in the district, was recovered from the Samayasangili Barrage Road with wounds on his stomach and face.A police team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Sujatha and Inspector A Palanisamy, then began an investigation into the incident. It was found that Nagaraj had gone out of his house with Kumaresan, Sangeetha’s paramour, on Wednesday. However, Nagaraj failed to return home.The police team, on suspicion, interrogated Sangeetha and Kumaresan, who confessed to the crime. Subsequently, both were arrested on Friday and remanded in custody.“During interrogation, Kumaresan said he forced Nagaraj to take a large quantity of liquor and attacked him with a big stone when he was lying on the ground.” “Later, he left the area. Nagaraj died due to severe injuries to his stomach,” according to Inspector A Palanisamy.After Nagaraj and some of his relatives reportedly chided Sangeetha when they came to know of her extra-marital relationship, she conspired to get rid of her husband.Sangeetha has told the police that Nagaraj was an alcoholic who often tortured her. The couple has two children - Bhoopathyraj and Saundharya. The two are literally out on the streets since they have no caretaker now.
