ALUVA: The World Eyesight Day will be celebrated at Aluva on Thursday. Various programmes will be conducted as part of celebration being organised under the joint auspices of Darsana Eye Bank, Residential Associations and NSS unit of the Aluva St Xavier’s College for Women. The World Sight Day celebration will be inaugurated by the municipal chairman at St Xavier’s College at 12.30 p.m.Darsana Eye Bank President Dr N Radhakrishnan will preside over the function.NRHM Ernakulam District Programme Manager Dr K V Beena will give the message of the day and administer an oath to the public.Darsana Eye Bank Secretary Dr Freddy T Simon will take class.Ophthalmologist Dr Tony Fernandez, resident associations secretary Chinnan Pynadeth, St Xavier’s College principal Sr Percy and NSS programme officer Dr Raji Joseph have taken the initiative to conduct the celebration.A projectwill be launched in the function to convert Aluva into a town where the all the residents will agree to donate their eyes.
