One of the most awaited projects in the Kannada film industry, Uttarakaanda, starring Dr Shiva Rajkumar and Daali Dhananjaya is finally happening. Directed by Rohith Padaki, the first shoot has begun in Vijayapura and will continue for the next two weeks. It is reported that the makers have deliberately taken a break to further focus on meticulous planning and research.
A lot of brainstorming has gone on for the film as the entire film is set in the dialect of Uttara Karnataka and unfolds the authenticity of the culture in North Karnataka. With an action plan intact, the film has hit the theatres today and has ignited excitement among the cast and crew. Everyone is looking forward to the start of the shoot, say the makers.
“I am excited and looking forward to the launch of Uttarakaanda which people are eagerly waiting for. This film took a lot of preparation and time to plan and execute. I and the producers had sleepless nights and put my heart and soul into bringing our dream to the screen. With the likes of Shivanna and Dhananjaya, our responsibility to deliver good material has increased significantly. I and KRG will leave no stone unturned to give the fans what they deserve”, said Rohith.
The team announced the female lead as Toby and Sapta Sagaradaache Ello fame Chaithra J Achar in the role of Lacchi. The team is currently in Bijapur for the shoot. Chaithra started shooting for her parts yesterday.
The film stars Dr Shivaraj Kumar and Daali Dhananjaya in the lead. It is being produced by Karthik Gowda and Yogi G Raj under the banner KRG Studios banner. The music will be done by Amit Trivedi. Advaitha Gurumurthy will handle the cinematography and Vishwas Kashyap has been roped in for production design.
Uttarakaanda was initially announced as a single film but was later made into two parts that deal with the gangs of North Karnataka. The team had earlier released a teaser to introduce Dhananjaya’s character Gabru Sathya, a raw and rustic role that had won over netizens by using the perfect slang of the region. The makers have stated that the delay in the shoot was due to the extensive planning to ensure that the North Karnataka region is portrayed as authentically as possible.
