Janhvi Kapoor Denies Using PR Machinery For Positive Social Media Comments: ‘Itna Budget...'

Janhvi Kapoor’s journey in Bollywood has been nothing short of remarkable over her six-year career. She captivated audiences as a cricketer in ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ alongside Rajkummar Rao and is now ready to take on a new challenge in the spy thriller ‘Ulajh,’ co-starring Gulshan Devaiah. Throughout her career, Janhvi has been at the center of discussions on social media, where she has received both praise and criticism regarding issues of nepotism, her performances, and her fashion choices. Recently, at a public event, there was a noticeable shift in public opinion, with more voices expressing support for her. When humorously questioned about whether she has ever paid for online compliments, Janhvi quipped that her budget doesn’t allow for such expenses.

When Janhvi Kapoor heard that people are speaking positively about her on social media, she told Pinkvilla, “I hope so,” adding humorously, “Paise khilwa ke bulwa rahi hu (I am paying them to say it).” She acknowledged that while some praise her work online, others dismiss it as the efforts of her PR team. She said, “Koi bhi main jab dekhti hu na social media par galti se koi bhi tareef kar leta hai na toh yeh bolte rehte hain ki ‘yeh toh iska PR hoga, yeh toh iska..’ (Whenever I receive praise on social media, some people ‘this must be her PR’).’”

In a previous interview with HT, Janhvi admitted to monitoring social media to gauge public opinion about her. “I once placed a lot of importance on it, believing it was crucial to understand the audience’s pulse, their feedback, and areas where I needed to improve. Social media seemed like a valuable platform for that. However, it has its positives and negatives. It’s important to recognize that while many are active on social media, it doesn’t represent the majority’s voice. It reflects a significant part of their thoughts, but there are numerous factors and variables to consider.”

Apart from Ulajh, Janhvi Kapoor will appear in director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s upcoming drama film Karna. The film also features Shahid Kapoor and Suriya in the lead roles.

Ulajh follows the journey of a young IFS officer (Janhvi) who comes from a prominent family of patriots. While working at an important post far from home, she gets caught up in a dangerous personal conspiracy. The film also features Rajesh Tailang, Adil Hussain, Arun Malik ( as Indian High Commissioner), Jitendra Joshi, Meiyang Chang and more in significant roles.
