Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani in crucial roles.

Nag Ashwin’s futuristic film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has been creating a buzz ever since its announcement. Today, the creators unveiled a new poster featuring Amitabh Bachchan, capturing everyone’s interest. The highly anticipated sci-fi movie will also feature Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani in prominent roles. And now in yet another exciting twist, the makers dropped a glimpse of Amitabh Bachchan’s mysterious look from Nag Ashwin’s magnum opus.

The 21-second teaser commences with Bachchan, adorned in warm earthy tones, seated in a cave, engaged in prayer to a Shiva linga. Accompanied by a serene backdrop of calming music, a child’s voice is faintly heard inquiring, “Can you not die? Are you divine? Who are you?”

With escalating tension, Bachchan’s resonant voice proclaims, “Since ancient times, I have awaited the arrival of the Avatar. I am Guru Drona’s son. Ashwatthama,” he asserts firmly.

Sharing his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter) earlier in the day, Bachchan penned, “It’s been an experience for me like no other. The mind to think such a product, the execution, the exposure to modern technology and above all the company of colleagues with stratospheric Super star presence.”

The exclusive first look premiered on Star Sports prior to the commencement of the IPL 2024 match between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans on Sunday evening. Earlier that day, the producers also unveiled a teaser poster announcing the reveal of the first look event, showcasing Big B fully clothed and masked within a temple-like setting.

Several months ago, Ashwin disclosed captivating details about the grand science-fiction venture, assuring audiences that ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ would deliver an extraordinary visual feast. Addressing the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, Ashwin expressed, “I just wish that there was more tech to help us make this film, like three-four years back when we were in preproduction. We are creating this new world like… I am just looking at this picture right now on the screen, and all these different worlds that we are trying to create, we work with so many different concept artists and giving prompts, obviously, again, in a very personal, one-on-one sort of way, and try to give references and build this world.”

Produced by C Aswani Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies, the musical score for “Kalki” is orchestrated by Santhosh Narayanan. Despite the initial announcement in January indicating a global release date of May 9, 2024, the lack of subsequent updates casts doubt on this schedule.
