Ram Gopal Varma Feels Film Institutes Are ‘Sham’, Says ‘Teach How To Make Kantara And KGF 2’
This is not the first time he has praised Kantara. In 2022, he took to his X handle and wrote that Kantara will be a major lesson for decades to come

Ram Gopal Varma, a well-known director, is also known for being vocal. He never shy away from expressing himself on any matter. Recently, the Sarkar director spoke about film Institutes courses and criticized it saying it is outdated and irrelevant in today’s cinematic landscape. He mentioned that students should be taught how to make films like KGF 2 and Kantara.

In an interview with Film Companion, Ram Gopal Varma said, “Film institutes are the biggest sham and I feel sorry for the students who join them. I am also talking about Film and Television Institute of India in Pune which has existed since the 70s. I have not heard a single guy coming from that institute and becoming anything in life… a very few people, handful, actually. Maybe Ketan Mehta, Vidhu Vinod Chopra… but the institute wouldn’t have taught them. The point is if it’s a professional course, it has to be updated to today’s time. You should teach how to make Kantara and KGF 2. Now you talking about Battleship Potemkin and Citizen Kane, which have absolutely no relevance.”

This is not the first time he has praised Kantara. In 2022, he took to his X handle and wrote, “The @Shetty_Rishab destroys the myth in film people that only mega budget films will pull people into theatres… #Kantara will be a major lesson for decades to come.”

Recently, Ram Gopal Varma shared a photo with Amitabh Bachchan which went viral. fans were seen guessing if there is any new film in the making. However, nothing has been made official but the viral photo has surely excited them. Both have worked in the film Sarkar which was a super hit.

Ram Gopal Varma’s latest political drama, Vyooham, centred on Andhra Pradesh politics was released on February 23, 2024. Directed and produced by Ram Gopal Varma, the film delves into the unforeseen events leading to the untimely demise of former Andhra Pradesh CM Y.S.
