India’s comprehensive victory over New Zealand by 70 runs was followed by the much-anticipated best fielder medal ceremony. While fans have been curious how fielding coach T Dilip uses unique ways to announce the winner of the best fielder award, the Indian management kept it simple for the semifinal with a classy touch from Suryakumar Yadav.
Courtesy of centuries from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, followed by a fiery 7-wicket spell from Mohammed Shami, India were able to end their semifinal jinx and storm into the final of the World Cup 2023.
The Men in Blue have made it 10 wins from as many games in the tournament so far, they are on the cusp of equalling Australia’s record for most consecutive wins in the World Cup (11), if they can lift the coveted trophy on November 19.

The BCCI have been keeping fans guessing with the ‘best fielder’ medal which has been a breath of fresh air not just for the players but for the fans as well.
In his usual fashion, coach T Dilip motivated the Indian players during his speech after the comfortable win over New Zealand, lauding the effort from the likes of Mohammed Siraj, while KL Rahul was confident that he was claiming another medal.
“Sir, just give me the medal,” said Rahul in a cheeky remark when praised by T Dilip, however, the wicketkeeper batter didn’t win the best fielder crown, instead it went to the ‘guardian angel’, the ‘best fielder in the world’ Ravindra Jadeja.
