India allrounder Ravindra Jadeja is chuffed to bits after his team wrapped up another comprehensive performance for their eight win of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
India thrashed South Africa by 243 runs at Eden Gardens to ensure they will finish the league stage at the top of the world cup points table.

India’s one-sided win was engineered by Virat Kohli’s century and Jadeja’s five-wicket haul.
The hundred was Kohli’s 49th of ODI career and he now is the joint-highest century-maker in the format’s history alongside the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
When asked, if the team has planned any special celebrations to mark Kohli’s historic feat, Jadeja said, “No, there is nothing like that. But whatever it is, 49-50, whatever it is, it’s all falling in the same plate. So, it’s good. It’s not going anywhere else. So let it be.
“The good news is that it is an important tournament and important games and it is being played in India. So whatever records are broken, runs made, wickets taken, it is good for us, so let it be, nazar mut lagaana kisi ki (don’t jinx it),” he added.
Kohli was also celebrating his 35th birthday on Sunday and when asked if the team was extra motivated on the field because of that, Jadeja said every time one plays for the country is a birthday in itself.
“No, no. Playing for India and birthday is not related. Whenever we play for India in the jersey it is always a birthday,” Jadeja said.
“Very few people get a chance to wear Indian jersey so it is a big thing but if you do a good performance on your birthday and the team wins then it becomes double special,” he added.
India have dismantled their opponents in what have been one-sided affairs and Jadeja thinks that it’s good since it will put the other teams under more pressure.
“It is good that there should not be any tough match, if the opponent team comes to play, they should feel that they are under more pressure and panic,” Jadeja said.
“And I will say that the stage that will come now (knockouts) is more important. So, if we are winning one side matches, then there will be more pressure on the other team,” he added.
