Andhra's New Budget Will be More Result-oriented: CM Naidu
The Budget session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly is likely to get underway from March 6, 2017, with the presentation likely to take place on March 13.

Hyderabad: The Budget session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly is likely to get underway from March 6, 2017, with the presentation likely to take place on March 13.

The budget session will be held in the newly-constructed interim Assembly building in the new capital region Amaravati for the first time.

In the meeting attended by all ministers, principal secretaries, secretaries and heads of departments, Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu said, "The State budget for the year 2017-18 will be a result-oriented one and at the same time will ensure that benefits and services reach the deserving people."

The Chief Minister indicated that the government will prioritise the convergence of funds in this budget, too.

He said that there was a steady increase in the income of the State and through innovative thinking, the government was able to overcome the bifurcation crisis.

The Chief Minister said that 153 government programmes can be carried out with the help of fund from NREGA. He mentioned that the government targets to spend Rs 7500 crores of NREGA funds in the coming budget.

The Chief Minister even declared the financial year 2017-18 as the year of e-Pragati. To ensure transparency, he added, "The government is developing citizen-centric software applications for all the departments. The government is mulling efforts for the establishment of 6 more organisations like the irrigation Development Corporation, Road Development Corporation, Swatch Andhra Pradesh Corporation and others for funds mobilisation."

He added, “For NavyaAndhra Pradesh to become a leading state in the country, we all have to work hard for the next 4 years."

A pre-budget meeting is scheduled for February 23 and 24, 2017. The Chief Minister advised all officials that they should aim towards increasing the satisfaction levels among the people in service delivery and that the working of the departments should bring positivity.
