Govt of sitting over Afzal's file: BJP
Apart form the Afzal issue, BJP also continued its tirade on Rahul Gandhi for his comments on the Babri Masjid.

New Delhi: On the wake of municipal elections in the capital, BJP on Wednesday accused the Congress Government in Delhi of sitting over the file on the hanging of the Parliament attack convict.

"The Delhi Government has been sitting on the file for several months deliberately," senior BJP leader and in-charge of the party's Delhi affairs Vijay Kumar Malhotra told PTI.

"Usually the state government should have returned the file with its comments within one or two days. But the government is sitting on the file for several months," he said.

"They are waiting for the coming Assembly and municipal polls to get over and would take any decision only after that," Malhotra said.

"If the Congress Government of Delhi does not return the file to the Central Government with the recommendation to hang Afzal by the end of April then the people of Delhi shall announce punishment for this sedition by voting against it on April five," he said.

Apart form making the Afzal issue one of its poll planks, BJP also continued its tirade on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his comments on the Babri Masjid demolition.

Malhotra on the issue said Rahul had insulted the Indian democracy by asserting that the incident would not have taken place had his family been active in politics during that period.

"We had thought he would apologise for his remarks on the Babri Masjid issue, instead he has said that such an incident would not have taken place had his family been in power. This is a blatant disregard of Indian democracy," he said.
